On 11 march 2019 Netflix has released trailer its most awaited project “Delhi Crime Story”, This web series is based on 16 December 2012 Delhi Gang Rape Case where a girl was gang rape, beaten and tortured in a private bus by the six people includes driver of the bus. Girl name was Jyoti Singh Pandey, she traveling with her friend Awindra Pratap Pandey. Both were beaten by the six people.
Star cast of the web series includes Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain and Rajesh Tailang. The web series have seven parts. The series will be available on Netflix on 22 March, 2019. The first two episodes were premiered at 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The web series is written and directed by Richie Mehta. It took Richie Mehta to complete this project. The film shooting is done in Delhi. This web series will released in two languages Hindi and English.
16 December 2012 Delhi Gang Rape Case
On this day, Jyoti Singh Pandey a 23 year old girl, she was traveling with her friend Awindra Pratap Pandey towards to home after watching the film Life of Pi in Saket, South Delhi. They take the bus from Munirka for Dwarka at 9.30 PM (IST). There were only six people on the bus, includes the driver.
Jyoti Singh Pandey was raped on rear seats of the bus; she was beaten with the rod and raped by all six men group. Awindra Pratap Pandey was beaten & knocked with an iron rod.
Jyoti Singh Pandey medical reports said that she suffered serious injuries to her abdomen, intestines & genitals. Doctors said that the damage indicated that a blunt object (suspected to be the iron rod) may have been used for penetration. Later the police described that L-shaped rod was used, L-shaped implement of the type used as a wheel jack handle.
Eleven days after the assault, Jyoti Singh Pandey was transferred to a hospital in Singapore for emergency treatment but died from her injuries two days later.
All the accused by arrested by the police and charged with sexual assault. One of accused was died in Police custody his name was Ram Singh. Police later said in reports that he hangs himself.
Convicted: Ram Singh (Bus Driver), Mukesh Singh (Ram Singh Brother), Vinay Sharma (Gym Instructor), Mohammad Afroz (Minor), Pawan Gupta (Fruit Seller), Akshay Thakur (Seeking Employment).
Outcome: Ram Singh (died in trial period); other adult convicts sentenced to death by hanging; Mohammad Afroz released on 20 December 2015, two days later The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill 2015 was passed by the Rajya Sabha
